Medical Team

Our staff of Nationally Certified Flight Nurses, Paramedics and Physicians combine their extensive training and varied work experience to offer the best possible care. Beginning with an intensive evaluation and orientation, our ongoing training program ensures clinical competence, and our robust Quality Management program reviews all aspects of transport with the goal of continuous improvement and safety. Under the close supervision of our Medical Director, all aspects of a flight are monitored in real time and consultation is always available when needed.

Our dual-accredited flight program ensures top-level care with rigorous national certifications and specialized training in cardiac, pediatric, and trauma care.

New crew members undergo 160 hours of initial training, supervised by our Training Coordinator and Medical Director, with 112 hours of annual recurrent training.

Team Credentials
Background

Team Credentials

All medical team members are required to have a minimum of 5 years' experience in emergency department, ICU, pre-hospital care or rotor wing flight transport. After extensive orientation and testing, competence is assured via rigorous ongoing training. As a dual-accredited flight program, all staff are required to obtain and maintain national certification in a flight medicine related discipline. Certificate training programs in cardiac care, pediatric care and trauma care are required as is national registry for paramedic staff. 

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)

  • TPATC (Trauma Professional Advanced Trauma Course) or ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support Course)

  • CFRN (Certified Flight Registered Nurse) or CTRN (Certified Transport Registered Nurse)

  • FP-C (Flight Paramedic-Certified)

  • CCP-C (Critical Care Paramedic-Certified)

  • NREMT-P (National Registry-Paramedic)

Training and Education

Initial training and orientation for new crew members consists of 160 hours of classroom and clinical/laboratory experiences, followed by monitored inflight patient transports ensuring compliance with CAMTS and NAAMTA training standards. All training is conducted or supervised by our full time Training Coordinator under the direction of our Medical Director. Annual/recurrent training consists of 112 hours.​

In partnership with FOAMfrat, our training program incorporates cutting-edge, evidence-based education, enhancing skills through real-world scenarios. FOAMfrat is an online medical education company that provides continuing education and training for pre-hospital, emergency medicine, and critical care. Courses within the learning management system offer accredited IBSC and CAPCE specific material that can be submitted for credit towards FP-C and/or CCP-C and CFRN and CTRN certifications.
