Meet Josh Piotrowski,
Medical Education and Quality Coordinator

With over two decades of experience in Public Safety and Critical Care Transport, Josh Piotrowski brings a deep commitment to clinical excellence and professional education in the field of prehospital medicine. He began his career as a firefighter for multiple municipalities before transitioning to emergency medicine, serving as a paramedic and Field Training Officer for the City of Cleveland’s Division of Emergency Medical Services. After seven years with the City, he moved to Asheville, NC, where he worked as a ground Critical Care Paramedic for Mission Hospital.

In 2011, he joined Erlanger Health System as a Critical Care Flight Paramedic and Clinical Base Educator, serving in this dual role for nearly a decade. Throughout his career, he has become widely recognized for his expertise in mechanical ventilation and is a sought-after speaker at national, regional, and local critical care transport conferences. His lecture topics often focus on advanced pathophysiology, pharmacology, cardiac care, and diagnostic reasoning.

Beyond clinical care, Josh is passionate about advancing the profession through education and mentorship. He volunteered as an educator with the E.C.H.O. Future Flight Crew program and was one of the founding faculty members of the AAMS Critical Care Transport Academy.

As the Medical Education and Quality Coordinator for Phoenix Air Medical, Josh oversees education and training for the organization’s medical flight crews. In this role, he is responsible for designing and delivering high-quality educational programs, leading quality initiatives, developing orientation and competency evaluation systems, and fostering a culture of clinical excellence. He also contributes to research, quality improvement, policy development, and accreditation compliance.

Josh will now extend this expertise beyond internal crew development to offer advanced training and educational opportunities to the broader medical transport and emergency care community. His dedication to continuous learning and improving patient outcomes continues to shape the future of critical care transport.
